Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
